Browser Navigation

Onsite is designed to work seamlessly with your browser’s native navigation. Rather than adding a dedicated in-app back button, we lean on the tools your browser already provides. This keeps the interface clean and ensures your navigation history (and the state of each page you visited) is preserved as you move around the platform.

Use your browser’s built-in back and forward buttons to move between pages in Onsite. When you click back, Onsite will remember the state the previous page was in (including filters, search terms, sort order, and pagination) so you can pick up exactly where you left off.

  • Back: Returns to the previous page with all your filters and state preserved.
  • Forward: Returns to the page you just came back from.

Avoid using the sidebar to go back

A common pitfall is clicking a sidebar link (for example, Cases ) to return to a list you were previously viewing. This will reset the page state.

For example, if you have applied filters and scrolled four pages deep into your Cases list, then opened a case, clicking Cases   in the sidebar will take you back to page one of the unfiltered list, not where you were. Use your browser’s back button instead to return to your previous view.

If you want to keep your current page intact while exploring a record, open the link in a new tab:

  • Windows / LinuxCtrl   + Click, or middle-click the link
  • Mac:Cmd   + Click, or middle-click the link

This is especially useful when you’re reviewing a list of cases, residents, or work orders and want to dip into individual records without losing your place.

Some links many not yet support Ctrl/Cmd/Middle click. Let our team know if you need support added for a specific link.

Quick search with Command K

You can jump to any record in Onsite from anywhere in the platform using the keyboard shortcut:

  • Windows / LinuxCtrl   + K
  • MacCmd   + K

This opens the global search bar, where you can search across cases, sites, residents, contractors, and more. It’s often the fastest way to get where you need to go without disrupting your current page.
